About the artist

Steve’s artwork is inspired by a love of the outdoor life – as a
walker, climber and alpinist. Mountains feature large and so do the
people who explore them. Composites of Lakeland and alpine
landscapes are often woven together to create an imaginative
mountain backdrop – a depiction of how Lakeland emerged from a
glacial carpet of snow and ice- or how it might turn out to be in
years to come.

Steve’s work has been seen on both the BBC and ITV, as well as in the Guardian. Daily Telegraph and other newspapers. In recent years he has had many articles and photographs published in magazines
such as Climb, Climber and High. But painting and sculpture remain an important part of his work. In 2010 he focused on the iconic image of Napes Needle in all its many guises-singly and with the addition of climbers.

If this approach to art appeals to you, why not buy or commission a
painting of you and a friend as the main subject – high on the North
Wall of the Eiger, a ridge of Everest, a hard sport climb, a technical
boulder problem or even a routine walk on the fells? The choice is
yours!
What’s more, a little surprise is concealed within each canvas. You will need to look carefully at the
original to reveal it!
